We set out to put together a brake kit that uses the a range of high quality components which also gives the customer control over their consumable costs and we feel we hit the bullseye with what we put together.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTo start, the kit utilizes EBC Apollo 4 piston brake calipers. These calipers are high quality units made in the UK and are offered in two versions, Street and Track. The Street version is better than any OEM brake setup without question and bring a host of upgrades to the table like:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eHard anodized aluminum pistons to reduce heat transfer to the brake fluid.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eHard anodized aluminum caliper bodies help to stiffen the body of the caliper and reduce flex under hard use as well as be more corrosion resistant.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e4 color options (black, red, blue, yellow) that is applied as a high temperature lacquer which won't degrade under high temperatures like powdercoated finishes do on other calipers.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eStainless steel bleed screws and crossover tubes which won't corrode from time and wear like plated steel parts do.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eDust boots, while common on many OEM fixed calipers, are not often found in aftermarket braking calipers and help to keep the fluid seals from leaking in very dusty or corrosive environments as well as protect the pistons from corrosion.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eChanging pads only requires the removal of one bolt and they pull out of the top, no messing around with finicky pins like factory style fixed calipers use.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eTons of pad compound options which gives the customer a wide selection to choose from to give them their desired brake feedback and performance.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Track version caliper is very similar to the Street version with some small differences. It is only available in a grey hard anodized finish. This finish is impervious to heat, brake fluid and brake clean. It also does not use dust boots since they are not able to withstand prolonged heavy brake heat without degrading. Lastly, the piston material is stainless steel instead of hard anodized aluminum to reduce heat transfer to the brake fluid.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #000000;\"\u003eThe amazing features don't stop at the caliper though. The rotors used are from a Nissan 350Z and we did this for the following reasons:\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #000000;\"\u003eIt has both 1 and 2 piece aftermarket options which are both easy to source and respectively not expensive.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #000000;\"\u003eIt has a 12mm larger diameter (324mm vs 312mm for Si) and more importantly it is 5mm thicker (30mm vs 25mm). This results in a rotor that has ~25% greater thermal capacity than the stock Si rotor. For customers who want to use their car for track use, this is paramount in keeping brakes from failing or wearing excessively fast.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #000000;\"\u003eThe dimensions of this rotor allow for it to be used in conjunction with the factory brake dust shield which protects the rubber boots on the ball joint and tie rod end from brake heat that can cause them to harden and crack.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #000000;\"\u003eThe combination of this rotor diameter and the EBC caliper mean there is less than a 2% brake bias change from the factory Si caliper setup. This is very often overlooked by others and is almost never correct with calipers retrofitted from other vehicles (sometimes it's as far off as 20%!), and because it is changed so little, the factory ABS system will still function exactly as it should with minimal changes to brake pedal travel.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #000000;\"\u003e\u003cspan color=\"#000000\" style=\"color: #000000;\"\u003eBut wait, there's more! Our brake caliper mounting brackets are made from billet 7075 aluminum \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan color=\"#000000\" style=\"color: #000000;\"\u003eand they're anodized black for corrosion protection and a nice stealth look. Upgraded braided stainless steel brake lines are available but the factory brake lines are compatible with the EBC calipers too. From the factory there is nothing in the pan to control oil flow in the sump so we knew we had to change that!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOur baffle replaces the factory windage tray and features 4 one way oil control flaps (2 on each side) that allow oil to flow towards the pickup tube but not away from it. With a precise fit to the pan there is minimal room for oil to flow around the baffle which keeps as much oil as possible near the pickup during driving but still allows oil to drain from the pan without any hinderance. Our baffle also acts as an improved windage tray which helps to cut down the amount of air that gets stuck in the oil which further helps keep oil pressure stable. Lastly, since the windage tray section does not dip down like the factory windage tray there is more room underneath it for increased oil capacity, almost a full quart more!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOur baffle provides the following improvements:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eHigher oil pressure during hard cornering\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eDecreased oil aeration from the rotating assembly\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eHigher oil capacity (from 3.7qts to 4.5qts!)\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTo install our oil pan baffle the factory rivets must be removed and the pan drilled and tapped for M6x1.0 bolts. If you do not want to deal with that we do offer the baffle preinstalled in a new pan. It comes with everything needed to install the new pan other than RTV to seal it to the block. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eNOTE: We strongly recommend test fitting the pan with the baffle without sealant and rotating the crank by hand to ensure the crankshaft does not contact the baffle before doing a final install. Be sure to clean pan, baffle and block mating surface of any oil, foreign material or drill shavings before reinstalling the pan. After adding our baffle all of the very concerning pressure dips have been eliminated. Available in your choice of red, purple, blue, black or silver, it really helps set off your engine bay aesthetics!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLastly, we've fine tuned the o-ring fit on our dipsticks to have a slightly stiffer seal than the factory dipstick, so if you're running really high boost and getting a lot of crankcase pressure the dipstick won't blow out and coat your engine bay in oil.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eTake caution when checking oil level on a hot engine, the handle does get hot!\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eNote for Type R\/S sticks:\u003c\/strong\u003e The high and low markings on our Type R and S stick are spread a bit further to give a wider reading range. The high mark on our stick is set to where the factory windage tray so you are able to run more oil in your Type R\/S while keeping it under the windage tray (allows for oil to last longer and maintain pressure better during hard driving) and be able to read that extra oil. It also means the transmission can't get any cooler than the cooling system, which is very hot. This degrades the transmission fluid much faster and also leads to fatigue failures in gears.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOur transmission cooler kit caps off the factory coolant lines with high temp caps and eliminates the factory heat exchanger block by plumbing the transmission fluid to a short 10 row cooler. This cooler is sized adequately to keep the transmission fluid much cooler than factory but not so cool that it can't get up to temp.
